I am going to mix Leitz Two Bath and Ansel D23.

Should I heat the water ? How much ? Is too much harm the chemicals ?

What would be the row of chemicals at mixing ? Is the mixing serie - one chemical before other - important ?

Thanks ,

Umut

The temperature usually recommended for mixing developers is 50C (125F). First dissolve a small pinch of sulfite in the water to remove any dissolved oxygen and then add the Metol and the other chemicals. Except for the initial small amount of sulfite the Metol must be completely dissolved before the rest of the sulfite is added. This is because Metol is difficultly soluble in concentrated sulfite solutions. D-23 is a very nice and I feel underappreciated developer.

The only reason for using hot water is that the chemicals dissolve more easily in it. You can dissolve 7.5 g of metol in a liter of cold water, but it takes a lot of stirring.
