Hi ,
a friend of mine is coming from the US to Europe, what is the cheapest address in the US for buying 120 film? B+W and Color (e.g. Kodak 400TX + Portra 400)I like to see him travel heavy :D
thanks

Probably not the cheapest, but good prices at B&H photo, they move enough for it to always be fresh, and they ship quickly. Have been happy with their customer service.

It will depend on what types of film he is interested in buying but if he is New York then either;

Adorama
42 West 18th St.
New York, NY 10011

or;

B&H Photo
420 9th Ave. at 34th St.
New York, NY 10001

Enjoy. I would love to visit these stores myself though I do not see myself in New York City any time soon.

Of course if he is coming from LA then stop at

Freestyle Photo
12231 Florence Ave
Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670

Having your friend travel with lots of film for you will be a problem as he will need to carry it on.

if your friend is in San Francisco, Glass Key Photo. Competitive prices and carries a good variety of film. Matt's pretty knowledgable too.

Thanks for your quick answers ! B&H is selling 400TX for $24,75(5p.) = E 19,11. In Europe this is E 19,90; 0,16 cents per roll less :sad: I know the're reliable: been there a few times and ordered from home. Adorama isn't my favorite shop. Didn't look at 'Freestyle'. The rates $ > E. isn't that good as some years ago, thanks to our Italian/Spanish/Cretan brothers :wink: I want to order and send the film to his home address, shipping to Europe is expensive! My friend won't protest against the heavy load; there is cold beer and a fish BBQ waiting for him.

And the link to the B&H site is ....

I've found recently that B&H is cheaper than Freestyle, and the line of available products is certainly greater. Best of luck to your friend!

Arista EDU Ultra 400 is Fomapan 400. Good film but definitely not Tri-X. As Matt noted, Arista Premium 400 is only available in 35mm (and that will be gone as soon as Freestyle's stock runs out). The only way to get Tri-X in 120 medium format is to buy Kodak. In that case Adorama or BHPhoto are less expensive than Freestyle.
