Hi All,
Back raising funds for the Ogden, Utah, Food Bank. January is cold here, snow yesterday, the food bank is in need. We just had a family in town die in their home because they couldn't pay the utilities so we're selling cameras to try to help.
This is a really nice piece, a 524/2 Zeiss-Ikonta Mess-Ikonta -- Synchro-Compur 1-500 shutter, f 3.5 Zeiss-Opton Tessar.
Very cool camera from the 1950s. It's just like a Super Ikonta C, but without the coupled rangefinder. The Mess-Ikonta has a rangefinder, but you have to transfer the distance on the finder scale to the lens focus scale. Other than that-- similar camera, same lens, very high quality images. The bellows are tight, the rangefinder is accurate, the lens is crystal clear. Camera is film-tested and works great, no light leaks.
BAD thing: The shutter's slow speeds are draggy, especially (I have no idea why) at 1/25th, the transition from the slow speed train to high speed. High speeds sound good, slow drag a bit. May improve with work, may not.
For a camera to use on a regular basis -- and this is my standard recommendation for ANY vintage camera -- a shutter service is highly recommended. That said, for outdoor use, you can load and shoot it today.
Body of the camera has some paint wear, but there are no dents, dings or bad karma.
So: $150 includes shipping the camera to you in the continental US -- anywhere else, you pay actual postage less $15. Your $150 is what goes to the food bank -- I pay the shipping -- or that $15 -- out of my own pocket, my part of the deal.
So, I can take Paypal at summicron12000@yahoo.com. Postal/bank money orders, cash, also taken. Pickup in Ogden, I'll buy you lunch and show you where all the houses of ill repute used to be. I could even arrange for you to hand your $150 directly to the food bank director and then I would hand you the camera.
Deal? Questions, send me a note.
Thanks for looking.
