I have too much photographic projects so I'm gonna sell several items. I'm going through all the cameras, lenses and other items I have to see what I'll let go to another and better home. All proceeds (100%) will be donated to children charities, like www.compassion.com or a local food bank.

FS item #1: a Werra 1 camera (Carl Zeiss Jena, DDR, 1965)

Model: Type 1 e, from 1965, body = black with chrome
Lens: T 1:2,8 f=50 (Tessar in three groups)
Shutter: Prestor RVS, 1 – 1/750 sec + B (2B – 60 sec. manual)
Aperture: f/2.8 – f/22 in half stops
Camera serial number (inside body): 609450
Lens serial number: 7063849

For sale is this very smart Carl Zeiss Werra 1e camera made in East Germany in 1965. It has a sharp Carl Zeiss Tessar 50mm f2.8 lens. It's completely manual and has shutter speeds run from 1 second to 1/750 with a B (timed) setting. Aperture runs 7 settings from f2.8 to f22. Focusing is on the front of the barrel and is measured in feet and meters from 0.8 to infinity. It has a cold flash hotshoe which uses a PC sync socket on the side of the camera. The shoe mount can also take a rangefinder. One of the great features of this camera is the film advance, which is wound on by turning the base of the lens. It's very sleek in design and makes a great street camera as it's take 35mm film. I really like this camera, a very robust solid little thing.

It's complete with the original lens cap and shade and a yellow filter B+W 30.5X 3x. The lens hood and cap store neatly onto the lens barrel. There is a crack in the lens hood.
It comes with the original Werra ever-ready case and strap. The case is in good condition with normal wear.

This camera seems to be in good working order. I didn't run a film through it, but the shutter speeds sounds very good, even at 1 second. The lens is free of fungus or marks. There is a dust speck inside the lens, but I doubt it will influence the image. The view finder is clear. This model is without light meter and has not got a rangefinder.

I sell this camera "as is" since I didn't use it myself with film, but if there is a major serious defect you can't live with and that I should have seen and told you about, I'll refund 50% of the selling price. So don't wait any longer and make this charity buy for a beautiful paper weight that might even take pictures

The manual can be found here: http://www.cameramanuals.org/pdf_files/werra_1-3.pdf

Asking price (as a charity sale): Euro 40 or USD 45 or best offer.

Shippings costs:
- The Netherlands: Euro 6.95
- within Europe: Euro 11 (no Track & Trace) or Euro 20.15 (registered & insured)
- outside Europe: Euro 18 (no Track & Trace) or Euro 26 (registered & insured)

This is wat people say about this nice camera:
“The most enigmatic and futuristic design from 50s”

“The design is minimalist, the lens cap doubles as lens hood and can be used also as a blocking of the controls, turning it to a point and shoot camera.”

“The WERRA cameras were made in Eastern Germany, GDR, from 1954 to 1968 by Carl Zeiss Jena, at the Eisfeld factory. Werra it's the name of a small river close to the factory.”

“The cameras offer a high degree of control with a minimum number of levers, knobs or rings. In their simplest incarnations, the Werras featured only a shutter release button on the top plate. With it's streamlined styling, one could call the Werras a design camera. Nearly all other controls were incorporated into the lens barrel.”

And I mean it too!! Since I didn't properly test it with film (and I'm not familiair with the Werra cameras) I'll refund you if it isn't what it seemed to be. I don't want bad feelings here on APUG so I'll even refund 100% if you really seriously complain. Fair enough? Remember: it is a charity sail for an item "as is" and I do think it will still take pictures. Just get an external light meter (or even an iPhone app) and you're set to go.
