A bold announcement. Sure would be nice, huh? Interestingly, little discussion here or on other forums... Yet.

Yesterday's breaking news:

What's to discuss? Its just another far-off pipe dream at this point AFAIC. Hate to be too cynical as I am supportive of it, but it seems way too early in the process to announce that its actually going to happen. If they were that certain they should and would give more details.

considering the journey New55 had to travel, I can't see anything but huge speed bumps along the way, esp if Fuji is not going to release any IP or machinery. Starting from scratch is going to be, imo is going to be a Sisyphian task

but they somehow DO produce 4x5 peel apart (bw or colour) I will buy some if it's obviously not out of reach cost wise.

I've dealt with CatLABs before and they are very dedicated. It's nice to see them step up to the plate, as Impossible, Lomography, Ferrania etc. all have their own stuff they're working on and can't take on this challenge. I'm sure there will be some bumps along the way, but if anyone can do it, they can.

Man, I'm crossing my fingers. I'd love to have films in the 100 and 400 range for proofing and tests. Easy to do a few tests and find the exposure and contrast differences for your favorite films. I still have a Nikon 8008 with a Forscher back, too...

Not much of an update, really. At least the remains committed to their goal.

I continue to wish them luck and hope the pricing will be favorable when it becomes available.

Because it's top of mind and buzz due to Fuji's recent announcement and because they are a company looking to make money and they though from a marketing standpoint it was a good time to announce.

But there's still nothing to discuss. They remain committed. How shall we discuss that?
