jpegs at a quality of 80%, with the long dimension of 1000 pixels usually works for me.
GLWS.

Ok, the woman who wants this gone has discovered that you will find this used lens for sale in the $900 to $1200 range but i just discovered that the aperture is not closing down as you turn the ring and so it will need some work. The glass looks pretty good although I'm not an expert at that. SO, because of the average cost of this used unit and because of the aperture problem, she said to try to still get that amount if possible. So, keep that in mind as you make some offer.

Ok, now something different! I've never had a Hassy and so don't know how they or their lenses work.

I thought maybe when it is attached to a body things will work and so I was playing with the lens and moved some little setting levers on the lens and now the aperture is working! Not sure how or why but maybe someone who has used these cameras could add to this conversation??

Hi Drew, the aperture will stay open for viewing a bright image until the lens fires. It can be closed down to check depth of field by pressing on a little metal tab on the right side (starboard) of the lens, then after it fully opens again it remains open until either firing or you press that tab again. That said, the lens probably needs a CLA in any case. Bob.

So when it is attached to the body and you have focussed and decided on an aperture setting....you can then change the setting?

Wow, at $350 I thought that was a helluva deal. I paid much more for mine! Drew B, it’s an “automatic” lens just like any other SLR that stops down to the selected aperture just before exposure. Otherwise, for viewing, it’s wide open unless you move the little “preview” lever.

When the lens is attached to the body and charged (the camera is ready to shoot) the lens aperture stays open for a bright viewfinder image. When you press the shutter button the lens aperture stops down, the mirror flips up, the rear shutter on the camera opens, and then finally the lens shutter opens and closes. When you are viewing prior to shooting, you can press that little tab and the aperture will close to whatever the setting on the dial is. It will open and close as you move the aperture dial. If you open it all the way to f4 it will again lock open until you shoot a picture or press the preview tab again. Bob.

I'm no expert on lens glass so no gaurantees included except everything else seems to work.
