Ah, the brand wars.
First, I gotta say, everyone needs to get over the Made in China freak out. First of all, they do make good stuff, especially with the furriners looking over their shoulders to maintain quality. I do not care about country of origin.
HP made the grade with its go the walls Laserjet II printer. A legend. And although I'v not owned any HP printers or scanners, they have always been lurking as possibilities.
I have tried Epson printers and scanners and for different reasons I hated them. Noisy, sucked ink, horrible SW interfaces.
I bought my first Canon printer ca. 1998. Over the years, newer ones. I've been able to refill the cartridges for twenty? years. They don't get plugged up, I can replace a head easily. An occasional failure, but mostly they keep on trucking. I currently run an ip4500 and a large Pro-100.
I have three scanners, all Canon. Again, I tried an Epson some years ago and was so glad to sell it, just like the printer. More intuitive and thorough SW, no scanner alignment shiiiit, etc.
Everyone's mileage varies, those are my experiences. My DSLR is a Pentax. Dang.
