What is the pattern of it's metering? Bottom-weighted, CW? Thanks.

You can see a slightly darker rectangle in the middle of the finder. That's the metering area.

Yeah, but, Saint Butkus does ask for a contribution.

Once in a while it might be worth noting that this request might not be wile on his part. He is of great value. - David Lyga

The FTb has an oblong lozenge shaped semi-spot metering pattern in the middle of the focusing screen which is 12% of the screen are which in practice is very good indeed.

In many ways, the FTb centre "area" meter is one of the most practical means of camera metering. It's certainly more intuitive the "centre weighted" which can mean all kinds of things depending on the make and model.

I agree, the grey oblong in the middle of the focusing screen delineates exactly what are is being metered so you can point it at the most important area of the picture you want to meter, the AE "P" partial metering screens FN for the Canon New F1 do the same thing.

And if you misplace your hammer, you can take dents out of your car fender with the FTb -- it's a very, very strong camera.
