Canon F1 New - Adjust Shutter tension

Hello!!

My Canon F1 new has started to show some issues when shooting at certain shutter speeds (Image attached). I have been reaching out and it seems that the shutter tension looses along the years. I am wondering if you could help me to find the way to fix it by myself.

That's not shutter tension problems. It needs to be disassembled and completely cleaned and relubricated. This is NOT a job for an untrained person. If you increase spring tension, you'll destroy the shutter.

I am interested on knowing the reason why you determine it is a lubrication and cleaning issue. Is it usual to get this results at different shutter speeds?? If that was the case, shouldn´t the result be similar in all shutter speeds? Do you know some technicians to approach it here in Europe? As far as I know, this camera is one of the most complex ones of its decade and because of that , mantainance and repair usually costs almost the same as buying a new one nowdays. What do you think about that?

As the owner of many F-1s i want to write.

The Canon F-1 is not a complex camera to service. You might be confusing it with the Canon NEW F-1 which indeed is a much more complex camera.

On youtube there's a tutorial on adjusting the shutter tension on the F-1.

However, the shutter problems should better first be solved with a thorough CLA instead of touching the shtuter curtain tension. Unless you have a really good shutter speed tester in which case you would already know what to do...

Without you showing more negatives the problem can't be diagnosed. It looks like shutter bounce, which won't be solved by adjusting curtain tension btw...

Check the big auction site and search for "Canon F1 New service manual". This PDF might help you diagnose and possibly fix your problem

Just so this part is clear: you have last version of F-1 with grip built in and battery in the grip correct?

The reason for the common approach of cranking up shutter spring tension is the misconception of springs loosing tension over time.
