Canon EOS Body?

I would like to get an EOS body to use with my lenses from 10D to shoot film.
I don't want to spend a great deal on a body. What would be a decent EOS body to get. I was thinging about the Elan II.
Any recommendedations?

Depends on your lenses really.
The ElanII was the EOS 50 in Europe, I had the 50E onceupon a time and I hated it. I would look for a good deal on an EOS 3 if I were you. More expensive, I know but you'll have it for a lot longer than the 10d.

I just bought the EOS 3 and it's a great camera. That said, I do have a Rebel 2000 for sale on ebay with lens and bag. (Shameless self promotion!). I'm on ebay as peter_trb3.

The older EOS cameras use A-TTL for the flash. If you have an E-TTL flash then it will not work with the A-TTL flash metering.

I myself bought an ELAN 7 to use lenses from my 350D. Extremely impressed with the body and would highly recommend it. If you must have a backlit LCD then look at the ELAN 7N.

If you just want to try film before making a commitment then a basic SLR (500,1000) can be bought from a dealer for about £40 while on auction sites you might get it for £20 or even less. I use a 500 and though I am thinking of a change (mirror noise for wildlife photos) I am generally happy with it.
The only cautionary note is that some have 'sticky' shutters and lose some shots.

What about the 650?

I bought one when it was new on the market, but I had replace it last year (bought a 2nd hand EOS 30). Search for "oily shutter". Once these early generation EOSes get beyond a certain age, this is what happens.

Most current cheap non-Rebel EOS available is a used Elan 7/7e. Lots of people like them--I've never used one. They have some nice features.

Rebels are pretty good little cameras if you want cheap and new. I do have a Rebel 2000 that I've had for several years and despite giving it to my wife (who treated it like hell) it has survived and continues to function perfectly.

I would second Lee's suggestion for Rebel. Boy, mine is already about 13 years old (Rebel S II) and still going strong. If you don't mind the plastic feel to it, it could be a good option. There is a plenty of settings on it.

EOS 30/Elan 7E . I have one (need to find some cheap "L" lenses) and it's a fantastically featured camera, practically silent film transport, quick focussing, handles brilliantly (esp. with batt grip) mirror lock-up etc , and tou can "point and shoot" when necessary with good results. Should be able to pick one up cheaply enough.

I have two of the Elan II model and although the EOS 3 offers more features, I wouldn't give up my Elan. I got the first one about 6 years ago, brand new, as a replacement for the camera I used for the last 16-18 years and I've never regreted it. Just be sure that your lenses are compatible with the fillm bodies. Some have an extended rear element that will be hit by the mirror.
