Canon EOS 1N film camera + EF 50/1,2L

I have purchased recently two mint EOS 1N bodies very cheaply and would like to add an EF 50/1,2L lens to my existing EF 50/1,4. Has anybody had
first hand experience with the above mentioned combination? I have read all
sorts of stories about the inability of the lens to focus correctly and considering the price... Thank you
