Canon body for FD 50mm f1.4

The AE-1 was my first SLR and first own camera. And as I said I very much prefer cameras as this model, that lack a power switch. But when it got such I
see no problem if electrical and mechanical locks are combined. And I was in the understanding that just this was your problem.

The advantage of the FD mount is that chances are good to find a mass of really cheap lenses of all kinds even locally, in contrast to Nikon-mount lenses. (Buying a Adaptall-2 Nikon adapter aside...)

I have no problem to buy Nikon mount lenses for cheap and even Nikkor lenses, including Nikkor 50 1.4 and bunch of F mount cameras.
And as much as I like and use EOS cameras, FTb was my first and last FD mount experience.

And i'd disagree there, honestly. I hated the combination of shutter lock and power button in the same place. It made for an awful experience and I sold it. And if you keep it ON all the time, battery will last little.

Interesting that you felt this way! I find the combo lock a nice feature that adds convenience to the user. Operating this button/lock is so much part of my muscle memory that I have never had any battery drain. If you don't have the need for inbuilt meter which is usually unreliable after so many decades, you can remove the battery, keep the lock always on and use the camera without any hassle.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice on the camera bodies for the 50 f1.4 FD lens. I ended up selling the lenses because I decided getting into yet another film camera system wasn't for me right now. I have a bunch of Nikon gear, some Olympus, Pentax and Minolta slr's and lenses. By selling most of the gear I picked up at various stores a few weeks ago, I was able to make more money than I spent on everything and keep the Nikon FM2N that I bought. I am using some of the money to buy something for the wife, since she tolerates my occasional overspending. Tomorrow, I am picking up a compound bow for her because she wants to do archery with me and my son.
