We are looking for a photo printer that will output something larger than 8x10 and are intereested in the Canon 9000 and 9000 MarkII. My wife will be printing digital color and I would mainly use it for printing from scanned B&W negatives and some Velvia. I have read that the B&W performance may be less than desired. Does anybody have anything to say about this? Is the Mark II a big improvement over the 9000?

Thank you all in advance.

I used to work for a company selling Canon printers alongside many others. I would say the Mark II is an exceptional printer, especially in BW. With the right settings and paper, I've seen images that I would have swore to be fiber darkroom prints. Color equally impressive. With the current prices, I think it's a no brainer.

Klainmeister - thanks. My wife just ordered the Mark II the other night. With rebates I think it came to something like $150. It's reassuring to see what you have to say about B&W as I will be using it mainly for printing from B&W film. She will be using up the color ink printing from digital.

A new Mark II arrived on my doorstep yesterday. They must be replacing it soon, it was only about $175. Woohoo!

Thanks for the help.
