Just bought a Canon P came w 50 f1.8, glass seems clear and blades are clean, smooth, but the appeture ring is loose and rolls around before engaging , never worked on a lens before, but thinking of buying tools to make repair, any ideas on what may be the problem, an easy fix, hopefully. Any help appreciated

I've seen a few videos on YouTube, doesn't look too complicated, but not really sure what to look for.

These may not directly address your problem, but it should show you how to get into the lens.

It is simple construction. Bar with two screws. Most likely bar or screws are loose.
Here is very fist return on google search for this lens disassembly:

The appeture ring is wobbly, moves in out slightly, not tight and smooth against for us ring, and moves (rolls) almost complete turn around barrel before engaging appeture stops. Something is loose, maybe a screw or something, as my mother used to say about our crazy neighbor. The YouTube video is great, hope it's clear what the issue is when I open the baby up. Anyone work w this lens before, tips on what to look for.

Happy to report I finally opened up the Canon 50 1.8 for my Canon P, everything was Abit loose, not sure if it was worked on before, but I cleaned all lenes, appeture blades, no fungus, re greased the helic coils, and put back together with out a hitch. Appeture ring fits right, not rolling around as before, and clicks nicely at all stops. I was Abit apprehensive to start w, but now feel confident to clean my other Nikkor lenes. Thanks for the support, best forum on the net.
