Canon 1V - Meta 35 and Personal Functions of interest

So after some looking around, I found out that the Canon 1V has some very interesting Personal Functions that are expanded beyond the Custom Functions of the camera.

I'm very interested in these two custom functions:
PF-21: Enables silent (low-speed) film advance when the shutter button is OFF after picture-taking.
PF-26: Shortens the shutter release time lag

I'd love for my 1V to be a bit more quiet (the motor advance without the PBE2 makes it super loud!) and certainly more responsive.

Has anyone had any experience setting these functions? I'd love to hear about it before I try it out and get Meta 35 in order to access these functions.

How would that work? I mean, the mirror must swing up, and the diaphragm (typically) closed.
There would nothing to be saved. Or is there some acceleration on both?

Trivial and geekish functions The EOS 1V is meant to be worked hard, fast and robustly with absolute reliability, and the power drive booster is very much a part of daily life for the 1V, as is any actual or perceived noise. Shutter lag?? Really?
The 1V has the lowest native shutter lag of any EOS camera (the 1N HS was the leader until the 1V came out). To make use of additional reduction your use would involved very, very high speed scientific micro-/macrophotography where milliseconds mean catching the moment or missing it by a couple of milliseconds. For everyday snapshooting, it is trivial. Another EOD camera had this as an option: reduced native shutter lag was a feature that could be performed at Canon service centres on the EOS 1N HS (fixed pillicle mirror version of the 1N camera with fixed power drive booster) which was commonly used in science applications where the mirror did not blank out the viewfinder.

No doubt the 1V has some of the crazy fastest shutter lag I've ever seen (And I love it). I wasn't sure if Personal Function increased it even more and made it "Better". Was more curious than anything.

Still would love to hear about Personal Function 21 about the "silent" film advance.

From the manual:
"Normally, the shutter-release time lag is controlled for stability. This Personal Function eliminates this control. As a result, the shutter-release time lag can be reduced by as much as about 20 percent when the aperture needs to be stopped down by no more than 3 stops"

Makes sense, you either have a fixed delay to cater for all apertures or you fire straight after. The benefit of the former is that you get a consistent operation (and user gets the same feel with each shot) while the latter gets you going as quick as possible.

"With the EOS-1V set to single-frame shooting with no Power Drive Booster attached, the film advances silently at low speed after you return the shutter button to the halfway position from the fully depressed position."

Interesting as I always wonderd how these neccesary lags were established or controlled.

BUT 20% of some hundreds, even let it be tenth. How significant is such?
Take into account the even bigger photographer's lag. Even with automatic electronic release by some trap, that shortening of lag does not seem much, and in such cases one likely would have to experiment anyway to find out the the best triggering in time.
