I have a AE power winder FN.

I believe I may have managed to fry 3 of these in less than a week…

I bought these years ago.

I do not remember having issues with attaching the FN motor drives or loading batteries in the past But apparently these are extremely delicate when you load the battery pack in the camera.

I had the mode selector to off but not on the camera…

I seriously do not remember these being so finicky.

All three F1s are doing this. They will fire from the shutter button on the camera but not the mode selector on the motor drive.

Anyhow… I cannot believe no one else has fried theirs in the same manner as I can load any other camera drive without issue.

Ok I needed a Duracell 28A installed in the Canon New F1 body to be able to use the motor drive for continuous frames per second.

Anyhow I bought these years ago all in minty condition and basically forgot about them…

It’s a 956. Shorter wheelbase than the US compliant 962 version for IMSA series. The 956 was banned due the drivers feet being in front of the axle.

I’m a Porsche nut among other things.

Yes, you do need a 6V battery because if the camera has insufficient charge in the batteries the winder/ motor drive won't work according to the instruction manual.

P.S. There is a special short lead that Canon made for the New
,F1 that had a battery cover on one side and a plug on the other that enabled you to plug in the to run camera off the motor drive batteries.
