(canceled) fyi - We're trialing another ad network over the next week or two

Hi All,

The current ad network has been pretty good, but I am still trialing other networks, mainly in hopes we'll get more relevant photography-related ads. The new one is mixed in with the current one and it may take 2 weeks for it to dial-in to our type of content.

The current network is serving mainly google based ads, a little icon in those ads will show this when you mouse over:

The newer network is valueimpression, their icon shows as this:

These will mainly be in the header and sidebar.

There should NEVER be any video, sound based, pop-ups, pop-unders, slide-out, or top-down expanding ads. If you see anything wacky and invasive like this please let me know.

Why not remove parts of the site that have noting to do with photography to improve ad relevancy? Like the often toxic and nearly always irrelevant lounge ?

The Lounge already is off Google. Do you mean that ad networks scrawl the Lounge to adapt their ads to it?

They generally show what you've been looking at online. I was browsing garden sheds so get stuff like this showing up after that. It's often quite helpful, even though I know it's tracking me.

Aside of IT-related ads I have not seen photo-related ads by these ad-agents. The new agent just offered me an ad for sex toys....

OK, I have ditched this network. They somewhat mislead me on ad quality, so that's 2 days work down the drain. Oh well.. was worth a shot. With covid hitting revenue like 50% was looking for some better ad revenue. Luckily I am back to work full time day job last few months.

Sorry, but I only can tell you my experiences over the last weeks without ad-blocking. If you wanted photo related ads, from my perspective, all 3rd party sourced ads were a failure.
Maybe members in other parts of the world got better ads.
