I watched a Charles & Ray Eames short recently on how Polaroid cameras worked, and it described how a light sensor would trigger the end of exposure when the right amount of light had been let in.
It seems therefore that it would be possible to modify one to provide the timing information you require.
They actually had sensors in them? I think the only one I ever owned was a Swinger (?) all I remembe about it was it was white, had a hand strap and two speeds, 75 (in red) for color and 3000 for B&W. I always thought it strange polaroid B&W film was so fast

Anyway, I thought they simply used mechanical timers for the shutters.
