Can you use this type of press for dry mounting prints?

I was looking for an etching press and found this....could you it for dry mounting, or maybe modify it for that? The free shipping is very interesting, and it would do 11x14 paper.

Dry mount press is recommended at 200-250F, and that product can get to that at its lower part of its range.
12" x 15" is rather at the small size, IMHO

You do not WANT a dry mount press to operate at 450F ! the first product you linked has 200-450F range.

The problem I see with all those T-shirt heat presses is they have an obstruction right at the edge of the heating element at one end, limiting the size of the mat board you can fit. So, mounting pretty much anything larger than an 8x10 print would require working in sections. OK, but not ideal for doing multiple prints in a session. Unlike a traditional dry-mount press that is usually larger and more open to allow one to mount a large-ish print to a large board in one pass.

If even the alleged lowest heat setting spec is accurate information (probably not with a product that downright cheapo looking), you'll probably have issues. And if the heat isn't completely consistent all across (also unlikely), you'll probably end up with bubbles and blisters in the finished product. Best to look for a decent used Seal press. And you don't know if the cushion materials contain something bad for prints and mounting boards or not. Just the H-base shape of the latter linked one would be an utter non-starter. Better using a teflon clothes iron instead, at low setting! - but that wouldn't be very forgiving either.

I'd look for one of the 15" x 15" models instead. Even those are small for even a 16 x 20 mat.

Thanks, I'll keep looking. For a real dry mount press, the shipping cost alone is probably more than one of these T shirt affairs, so it's worth pursuing. We've had a number of photographic and graphic art enterprises close here in Tucson (COVID), but no dry mount presses have turned up on the market.
