A lot of film EOS (especially the Rebels), were actually significant downgrades from these first models, especially from the 620, which offered just about everything you could want. It wouldn't surprise me if few subsequent models had date backs with extended range like that.

I have an EOS630 with quartz date back, that is said to have better autofocus than EOS650 or EOS620.

I don't think it's been mentioned yet .
The Minolta Dynax 7 date printing function is good to 2039 .
AKA alpha 7 and Maxxum 7 depending on where in the world you are ( Europe , Asia or USA ) .

I have a question- these things are hardly rocket engineering. I would think it would be possible to reset their parameters so they could record new dates. It may well be something easy to do but not worth the effort, but has anyone looked into doing it?

New addition - the date back versions of the Canon EOS 300X / Rebel T2 / Kiss 7 go until the end of 2099.

I was reading this thread trying to remember what recent camera I picked up went past now and Skux reminded me.

I also recently picked up an Olympus Trip AF 50 and that goes to 2070 I think. They were overly optimistic....

I'll add to this. It might have already been mentioned.

The MAXXUM 50 (AKA, DYNAX 30/40) has a DATE model which has years to 2039, as well. I've got to assume that other MAXXUM/DYNAX/ALPHA models of the same period, such as the MAXXUM 70 have DATE backs that go to 2039, as well.

I imagine it would be something very easy to do , if you had the hardware to connect the chip or back to a computer or device to alter it .
Non of my gear seems to have an interface to allow this .
My Dynax 9 and 7 allow transfering information, the 7 has a data unit that replaces the lens han has a memory card in it , the 9 had a Smart media card slot on the back for transfering exposure data to a PC . I don't know if reprogramming a back is possible as the interface on these probably isn't set up for reprogramming the data imprinting function .

Unlike neilt3, I think it would not be easy to do. The date restriction is probably encoded in the firmware due to the way the original programmer handled the dates and the firmware is most likely not updatable, unlike the programs in a digital camera.

One would need to open up the camera to physically access the chip to dump and disassemble the code from the clock/date display circuit. You would then need to be able to update the code and recompile it without breaking it. The code would also need to be on a PROM that could be updated. Each brand of camera would be different.

Digital cameras are another story. For Canon PowerShot cameras, there is the CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit) project, but that involved a number of talented and determined hackers.

The MF-29 Data Back for the Nikon F100 goes until the end of 2049 then skips back to 1998.

Hi, I would like to report that the MF-26 Multi-Control Back does indeed still work. I tried to advance it to the future and it went all the way to the year 99 and then rolled into year 00 and started all over. So, it seems MF-26 users are ok for a long time.
