thank you for responding. The issue is being investigated by the people who have repaired my camera and sent it on with DHL. Let's see what happens. At the very least I expect to be refunded for the repair work they undertook.Sorry to hear about your experience. Yes these thing happen unfortunately. A courier is in a good position, if he/she is so inclined, to take a camera. I presume you reported this to the courier company and it has (a ) investigated and (b ) offered compensation
Unfortunately it is no different to the odd rogue postman who steals people's post/mail
pentaxuser
BOTH cameras have been 'lost' = stolen in the hands of couriers
My Hasselblad was stolen yes,.....now my Leica was (in the tracking) initially taking a long time to come from Germany....then it was reported as the package being 'damaged'....then they reported as the camera not being inside the package....thus stolen!Lost isn't the same as stolen. Frustrating as your experience is, I'd hold back on judgement.
I hope your cameras turn up, and if they don't, they were at least insured so you'll be refunded their actual resale value. I assume the shipments were insured, right?
Too late now but it's generally not a good idea to ship items that exceed the standard insurance threshold of 500€ via DHL. One option is to up the insurance: https://www.dhl.de/en/privatkunden/information/service-hoeherversicherung-international.html
Or to pick a carrier for valuable items like Intex.

sending two very expensive cameras to GERMANY!!!!!!
I shouldn't really laugh at that, but I couldn't help it.DHL+ Damaged Hijacked or Lost.
Thanks for the information. To be fair the camera repair shop have stepped it up and copied me into correspondence
thats absolutely correct. So far they are helping me out. We shall see.....if this ends badly I will see what steps I take.Good luck, I really hope you can reclaim either the cameras or equivalent value.
Tbf it should be in the camera shop's best interest to solve this issue if they rely on their customers using regular DHL.

DHL is a bit of a shitshow. I haven't had theft, I think, but lots of incompetence and negligence. The don't pay well so motivation of the the employees is low. Other companies aren't any better though.
You could post about the lost cameras in the various forums, maybe they show up somewhere to be sold. Of course you need to be able to prove they were yours for that to be any help.
Most of the shipping services seem to be understaffed and overworked beyond being just plain incompetent.
