I hope this is not a violation of the guidelines:
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE OR BAN - i am not related to this store in any way - but figured the folks on APUG will benefit from this info

An old, small town camera store is closing shop in Bristol RI. This is by far the saddest thing yet, so i figure anything can help here.

Camera world 433 hope st. Bristol RI.

I was just there and picked up some stuff.
There is a TON of darkroom stuff (everything you can think of), a million 35 bodies and lenses of all kinds and a ton of other stuff in piles of dust.
Litterally the whole stuff in the store is up for grabs, a couple of brand new 4X5 enlargers (one a dichroic D5) and other stuff.
Film paper safes, as well as brand new gra labs, and all kinds of stuff i did not know was around, grey cards and 4X5 density print aids...
wish i could buy the whole thing and give out.
Saw some LF camera, old glass plates and so on

Worth the while to drive down there if you are in the area. Nice guy, cool stuff.

Hope someone can grab some great deals!

How sad....Thank's for posting, I wish I was local, but it is probably better that I am not.

Forgot to mention - there is a ton of 35 slide gear, frames, projectors (leica projector) and several commercial lide mounting machines.
There is also a fairly large stock of fresh film of all kinds, maybe he wants to offload it...

I am sure the guy will ship any of this stuff....

This is a really heartbreaking thing - worthwhile giving a call a getting some stuff. I am sure anything would help him out.

Just found this...

This is a sad thing. I called the guy and he was busy with folks in the store, so I'm going to call back. Based on the tone of this thread and the newspaper article, his having people in the store is a good thing.

Anyway, I thought I'd inform everyone here that he has much in the way of used 35mm camera bodies for Canon, Nikon, Minolta and Olympus. I asked about Yashica but he has none. I did not ask about Leica, but he may have those as well (I'm sure they will go fast if not gone already.) He also has a lot of color-processing equipment, such as Jobos and he mentioned a Konica processing machine. I didn't get a lot of details but thought this might help out anyone else who's considering calling. I'm probably going to order from him a few smallish darkroom items such as chemistry jugs if he can ship them.

There is a complete Jobo ATL3 with the original Jobo water panel and literature that i saw (for a very reasonable price, would take it - but no where to put it... he said he would deliver it anywhere in MA and the area), gazillion 35mm bodies and lenses, and various older folding cameras...
Also, i saw at least a few yashica electro camera, don't know if they were working or not, they guy was a camera repair man for years and there is boxes on boxes of half taken apart cameras....
It is a complete working photo lab and he is selling the whole thing, so there are several minilab machines there old rota trim's and stuff like that...

This will sound wrong at first but... pick through and find anything you can easily sell on APUG, buy it, benefit him, sell it here and make your money back + some. They'd rather get shit sold than not, otherwise they'd do the internet thing; at some point you just want stuff gone. You can always wait till the end to see if locals grab it up. The unfortunate thing is head hunters that like to put stuff on Ebay for stupid prices, and are more than willing to wait a year on a sale; where as you could benefit two people by moving the item in a different way.

Yeah... You have to make sure you can make your money back for sure. It makes it challenging. I know a guy with a bunch of gear but he won't sell to anyone local unless they pay Ebay prices, but he won't put it on Ebay, bought it for nothing I'm sure and now it just collects dust while he gets no return. Even the supply and demand is screwed up for camera gear... Really common things that are really good have high prices!

to buy all his overstock ... hard to believe who it might be since they are pretty much
the last mom/pop photo store in ri ...

Could be newtonville camera, i think they bought out the last remaining junk and dust piles from Zeff when they closed up about a year ago...
it could also be someplace from out of state, i know there are lots of well doing camera trading companies...
I wonder what they offered him?
