I recently broke my camera (Digital, Lumix) after the wind blew it over while it was on a tripod, attempting to take a picture of the Northern Lights.
The only problem I saw initially was with the lens. The focal lens within was knocked out of place. I opened it open and placed it back in the right place but in doing so, I think I broke several other things. Mounting the lens back onto the camera body, I twisted some of the copper pins that provide the electrical connection from the camera to the lens (Advice on what these copper pins are called would be very helpful)
This means that the camera no longer senses the lens exists. I can still take reasonable pictures but I am unable to adjust the aperture and shutter speeds as the cameras doesn't recognise the lens. I also worry that each time I take the lens on and off, i'm twisting the copper pins more. I will need to buy a new lens because the rotating mechanism is broken but I think I will need to replace the copper pins first. A classic example of a novice repair doing more harm than good!
I haven't found any advice on the internet about this, partly because I struggle to describe the problem without knowing the correct vocabulary.
Has anyone had similar problems to this? Do you have any advice on how to proceed with fixing the issue?
I will likely take the camera to a repair shop but would like to know more about the nature of the issue and know how likely it would be to be fixed easily before I started spending money on it
Thanks for any help you can give me
