I think I will try the matchbox camera.

I recall as a kid making something like that with some bits of cardboard and a 126 film cartridge. Winding accomplished with rubber band and stick.

The paper slr video clips come up as not available.

We used to go around to schools with 126 cartridges and black tape. Using a pin, the cardboard and the cartridge, we used to teach students how to make a simple pinhole camera.

The plans for that are out there somewhere and teachers, girl scout leaders, parents, all sorts of people who wanted a fun project for kids came into my store asking for 126 film. This was 4 or 5 years ago mind you... They were none too pleased to hear that we didn't have any. Someone even told me that surely they would not have shared the design if there wasn't proper film available... What could I say to that? Ah memories...

The cellphone-based surveillance camera might be a little hard to get through an airport. Some really fun ideas, though.
