Hi all,

I think I saw a thread recently on this forum for this product... but can't recall the name of the product or the thread.

The product is a camera body case (I think it's neoprene) that covers the entire body of the camera and also protects it from dings and scratches. They're designed for fuller cameras (i.e. cameras with battery grips like the F5, D1x, etc.). Thinking of using one with my PZ1p to make it a little quieter.

Thought about a camera blimp but it's just too bulky.

Anyone know the name of this product or one similar to it?

Thanks!

Very interesting.

But it reminds me of.....well, that's just how my mind works I suppose.

Actually, I do use a Pentax 645 and comparatively, it's definitely quieter  the 645 sounds like a chain saw in comparison!
Curious if any one had experience with these cases from the B&H link? About to purchase one soon... Possibly.

It looks as if the neoprene cover might have some effect on noise but I don't see how you operate the camera with it on. The others which allow you to operate camera with them on seem to have too many holes to have much effect on noise but would protect the body which is what I think they are meant for rather than noise reduction.

These are just impressions on my part but if the covers had an appreciable effect on shutter/mirror slap noise then I am surprised this doesn't form part of the marketing "blurb" as it would be a good selling point

If you do get one let us know what effect on noise it has. Certainly something to quieten down a P645N would be worthwhile.

Thanks

Personally, I think anything that makes a dent in the amount of noise from a P645N would make it nearly impossible to use, but would also be worthy of serious applause. When I used the 645 in a class a few years ago, while we were shooting outside, several people commented on its noise level. It got the nickname "Thumper". I think it's the film advance as much as the mirror slap.
