Camera building meta-how-to

Hi All -
I just put up an article on my blog about building pinhole cameras. There's already a ton of guides on building pinhole cameras, so I took a different spin: I call this a meta-how-to. Rather than tell you how to build a camera, I cover the ins and outs of different types of cameras builds so that folks can determine what type of camera they want to build. Let me know what you think!

I always thought the purpose of building cameras is the joy of solving problems while simultaneously creating new ones.

Paul - thanks so much for the kudos!

Rich - I agree there's a huge joy in overcoming the design challenges. My favorites have been Polaroid conversions, because at some basic level you must keep the Polaroid mechanism in place so that the film gets processed correctly. Dealing with that - with various materials and adhesives - can be very unique challenge indeed.

My snarky was of saying, wish I had something like your article before making my own contraptions. The very idea of incorporating a "mechanism" makes my head spin! Keep writing about pinhole . . .there is even a local interest here, with an annual workshop, which is surprising but great. The more pinhole is put out there, the more information, all the better to attract new pinholers (sp?)

Where is "here" that there's a local workshop? There's one here in Cleveland as well. They are gaining in popularity.

And yeah, I believe "pinholers" is a proper word, no matter what spellcheck says
