I'm just trying to keep a fire under this so that it doesn't just go the way of the dodo.

I'm glad to see that this still has a little life in it.

Hey,

somehow I forgot to post here and then it got out of sight. :whistling:

The little Olympus Trip (a nice camera btw) arrived in Germany last year, it took me some time to take a shot and I sent it off to France. And it took way longer to arrive there than was planned, maybe Laurent can explain a little bit. But I think it was in the best sense of this project because it was a chaotic trip to France ...

Anyway I was worried about it being lost and now I am glad that it resurfaced

Cheers
Ruediger

Have you managed to lose any cameras yet?

Hi,

so, as Rüediger suggested, here's some more information...

The camera left Germany in mid December last year, and, finally, made it to my home in France... yesterday !!

David : this is your Oly trip, and it's a very nice camera !

It seems they routed it to the wrong place first (may be the German postcode created some confusion with a location near Paris), and then it has been routed to several post-offices until some clever person (at least cleverer than the other ones !) found that 'somebody' actually wrote the real address it needed to go to.

When I told the story to my wife*, her first reaction was that the address could no be written any more clearly than what Rüediger did !

I'm very happy the camera surfaced again, just felt disappointed as I spent a few days in Finland this week, and could have flown with the camera, so that the trip could have been even more chaotic !!

Anyway, I plan to shoot something in the next days, and will then find another destination for the nice camera !

Ah, chaos reins supreme. I had thought that most had given up on this project so I was just going to let it die. I am glad that at least one camera has surfaced and we will be able to see some photos from around the world.

Wow, I'm amazed! Thanks Ruediger and Laurent for the updates, I'm thoroughly delighted that it's found its way into such great hands, and more than a little chaotic to boot.

If it makes it home, I promise I'll make a little book for everyone who pressed the shutter!

David.

Wow, a book with all the images, sounds like fun too.

I have a similar project going on here in Germany as part of a German Nikon Forum. Although most of the members in this forum use digital cameras there are at least enough people that, when I announced the idea within 23 hours I had 37 people on the project, enough to fill a film.

Now my little FM-2 is on its way through Germany with some postal deliveries and some personal meet-up to give the camera to the next participant. It started its way 18 month ago and probably needs around 3 months more.

Once the camera is home again I am going to develop the film and make enlargements of all images which I put together into an album which itself is going the same way back as the camera.

Cheers
Rüdiger

Laurent, I've PM'd you my address. Take your time with the camera and then send it over.

Do I have to shoot something specific (urban scene, maybe, or a landmark of the city) or can I shoot anything?

How many frames can I spend?

I forgot to mention the Olympus is now on it's way to Greece !

I shot 3 frames (plus one I wasted as I forgot focusing !)

I just got the Olympus Trip and, man, it's such a nice camera..!

The frame counter indicates that only 10 exposures have been made so far, so I intend to spend 4 or 5 frames - I want to capture the Parthenon and other well-known places around Athens, and then maybe I'll get a portrait or two.

Since this camera's chaotic journey is slower than expected, I'll try to be finished before the end of May, so who wants to be next? I can send it anywhere in the world.

Sign me up, I'm a scatterbrain! How about someone sends me a nearly-full one, I'll shoot the last couple of frames, process and scan the roll, host the images on the web, reload the camera (I have two spare rolls of Ektar and no more 35mm camera to put them in) and send it on afresh.
