Shooting the Nude
Since earliest times, the unclothed human form has been a particular focus of artistic innovation. Western and Eastern art reflects profound admiration for the body as the shape of humanity. In this show, we will explore a range of artistic photographic expression, from the nude to the merely naked. You are invited to participate.

The Venue
Accepted images will hang in the VCP gallery from March 1 - 31, 2013. Opening reception on Friday, March 1 from 5:30 to 9 pm during Gallery Walk.

What To Submit
Jurying will be conducted via projection of digital files. Up to 5 images may be submitted by CD or via email at info@vcphoto.org.
Please title each file with “your last name_image title”. Files should be approximately 5"x7" at 300 dpi. With the submission please include a document with your name, phone, address, email, image titles, and original print dimensions for each image. You may include a sentence or two describing each photo if desired.

How To Enter
Send your submission and a check for $30 made payable to VCP ($25 with photocopied student ID) to: VCP, 49 Flat St., Brattleboro VT 05301

Deadline
Entries must be received at VCP by Sunday, February 3, 2013. Notification will be by Sunday, February 10. Accepted images must be delivered framed or matted under glass to the Gallery by Sunday, February 24, 2012

Will judgement be on image alone? Or will print size factor? Is there a size limit? As in too small a print or too big a print.

Is anything too taboo? As in for example something that is nude but also to some "pornographic"?

Will submitted and accepted images be viewed per artist or separately? As in could one artist theoretically have all 5 images accepted? Or is there a limit of one image accepted total of the 5 submitted?

Thanks

I can't speak for whomever will be doing the jurying. But, in general the judment is on the image, and print size isn't generally a consideration.
We've shown some pretty large photographs, measured in feet on a side, as well as some that are pretty small, like contact size from MF cameras.

While nothing is taboo, let's say that raunchy shots of mating may not make it in. We've had some pretty edgy work on exhibit at various times in the past however. Certainly this show won't be "safe for work".

I don't know how the work will be organized for judging, generally the work is assigned a number, which is the only identifying information the jurors get. One artist could theoretically have all their images accepted.

Thanks for your interest.

Male nudes are fine, and we have shown male nudes in the past.

The $30 covers the costs of putting the show up and keeping the doors open. VCP is a registered non-profit.
