Hey guys!

I just recently got a Toyo 45a that came with a Copal No. 0 shutter. Everything seems to be in working order except that I can't get any cable release to thread into the shutter. I've done some troubleshooting and it doesn't seem like there's an old release broken off in there, nor does it seem stripped, it's just that I can't seem to get anything to fit. I've tried two different cable releases and bought a right angle adapter to thread in but nothing seems to work. None of these even begin to thread into the Copal properly. Are there any solutions to this? Thank you as always for your help.

A photo or two would help others help you. Did you get just the shutter, or with an attached lens?

It is possible that the tip of a cable release broke off in the socket and you can’t see it as it looks like it is part of the socket. I have removed them by using a small jewelers screw driver to fit into the broken tip and then unscrew it. Look into the socket with a 4 or 6x loupe to see it.

Kumar, apologies for the late reply. Here are the components in question. I received the shutter with the lens attached. I imagine that the socket is just in fact stripped.

The outer threads seem to be stripped. Otherwise it looks fine.

That socket is easily available as spare. Otherwise sent it to a camera repair shop for recutting the thread.
