Cable release maintenance

I recently bought a 50cm Gebr. Schreck cable release. This one has the spherical brake (model number: FWS-PRKB-50). Already impresses with its construction.
Novice query (, possibly silly too)... How should I keep it when it's not on the camera: straight, or, in a loop?

Straight or a gently curve/loop. It's tight bends etc that damage them.
