So, after refurbishing my Busch Pressman 4x5 that I bought several years ago, I'm finding that the only cable release that works is one that came with it, a really short one. I have tried 7 or 8 other cable releases of different types, they all fit, but will not trigger the shutter. What am I not getting here? Any thoughts, suggestions? I'm using Rapax Synchromatic 135mm and 90mm lenses. Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't be having that much difficulty. Why not post a picture of your shutter and a close-up of the cable release port... that will help people help you.

The only reason could be that the thrust of all the the others is too short for that model shutter.

How long were the other one's you tried? I find that some really long cables bind up if not straight (not enough thrust, to use AgX's terminology), and in general aren't as reliable as shorter cable releases.

Thanks all, I'll be re-looking at the throw on each tonite.

Yes, throw was the word I had in mind...

(Though, with some cameras thrust would be apt too.)
