Hi, I've been scouring the forum for the past couple months and have learned *a lot* about darkroom processing, scanning, etc. Big thanks, especially to PE, the news of whose passing I'm sad to have just recently come across. RIP.
Moving on, two things that I've been having an issue locating an authoritative word on:
1) Is C-41 designed for constant agitation in a Jobo (and across all steps)? I am guessing yes because the Fuji Hunt instructions do not specify, but would appreciate confirmation.
(It is maybe worth mentioning that 1) I exhausted a Cinestill 2 bath kit which also had somewhat vague instructions for Jobo agitation, getting good results but not using 100% constant agitation, and 2) the Jobo I've inherited has a malfunction where the motor knob requires constant pressure upward to function, making the aforementioned agitation process easier to accomplish than it otherwise would be to rotate the motor off/on. As all of this cuts against the Jobo's ease of use, I imagine C-41 should just be constantly agitated, yes? Also if anyone is familiar with that Jobo issue and has a fix, please advise. It's not the worst thing but certainly a bit of a handicap.)
2) I am planning on mixing all 5L of the Hunt kit sometime soon and storing the majority to use across the next calendar year. It sounds like the developer should be fine split across liter glass bottles w/ polyseal caps, but as I'd rather avoid investing in nearly 20 containers for the other chems, I'm wondering if storing the working solutions of bleach/fix/stabilizer in, say, a couple 64oz growlers, or something even bigger and decanting into smaller liter containers as needed would be fine, leaving the growlers to be filled with some air across some time? I imagine it wouldn't be an issue with the bleach, but am unsure on whether the fix/stabilizer would oxidize and deteriorate over time. Also curious if it would differ were I to just store the concentrates and mix those up as needed instead (but again, only referring to the non-developer components; I am definitely going to batch mix the developer).
