It’s a Tessar (per the indigogo pitch) lens that is set at a non-focusable hyperfocal distance that makes all out photos in focus from 3 meters to infinity. After complaining about how tough it is to focus the lens and set the f/stop, they’re essentially selling the now-$299 version of a box-camera lens being hyped as “the next big thing in photography.” The hoped-for purchaser could get exactly the same result by buying a cheap 35mm lens, setting it to f/8 and focused at 5.5 meters (per DOFMASTER.com) then putting duct tape around the lens barrel so these settings could not be changed. Just forget about anything closer than 2.66 meters actually being in focus. Yet they refer to this device as a “revolutionary type of lens” when it’s the equivalent of what Kodak had on the Brownie about 60 years ago; heck, some of those had “light/dark” levers to change between big-hole/small-hole stops, didn’t they? Not this. As some famous fellow says sometimes - SAD!
