C-41 120 processing

I take mine to Peterborough Camera (Peterborough, NH), but they are a bit of a hike for you.

You could also do your own. Processing C-41 film into negatives isn't really much harder than doing the same with B&W film; the main complication (to so exaggerate it) is keeping the temperature at 100F for the 3:15 required in the developer. This can be done with a water bath.

That said, turning film into negatives is just half the battle; you'll then need to print in a darkroom, scan, or take the negatives somewhere to have prints made. Depending on your existing equipment and skills, that might require extra investment or consume more time than you care to expend.

I've considered doing C-41 processing myself but, as you pointed out, developing is only half the battle. Of the three enlargers in my darkroom none of them have a color head although the used prices for decent color enlargers are reasonable at the moment as are used Jobo processors. I suppose I could go the hybrid develop/scan/print route though.

I use Dorian too, great lab but they do scan negatives-no enlargers.
