The same switch that powers the fan. If you're getting power to the fan, and not the bulb, there is an electrical fault in the enlarger.

That's what I was thinking. Well, it's time to hit up Peachtree Camera and Video Repair in Georgia. The Beseler website lists them as a repair shop, so I'm assuming they're good at what they do. I'll give them a call today or tomorrow. Hopefully it wont be too expensive to fix :\

I would be contacting the guy who sold you the enlarger outfit first. He was charging top dollar for a 23C, and he passed himself off as a knowledgeable seller. IMHO, he should give you some sort of partial refund toward the repair.

I agree. Actually, he should foot the bill for the repair. I just bought an enlarger with some accessories from an APUG member at a very good price. He was unable to find one Light Multiplier and offered a full refund or a refund for the price of a new Light Multiplier.

I bought a new bulb for the enlarger, a EJL 24V 200W (That's what was in the enlarger when it arrived). That still didnt work. My dad brught a similar bulb home from where he works, and it was a 12V 50W bulb, I think. I tried it just to please him (he was sure he had the bulb I needed, and it would fix the problem, despite my arguments to the contrary). Not suprisingly, it didnt work.

A few minutes ago, just out of curiosity, I plugged it back up to test the enlarger again. I turned it on and used the electricity meter to test the socket where the bulb plugs in. This time I got a reading, but the light still didnt come on :\ the reading on the meter was 400, but I dont know what that means. I got it to go up to 800 by spinning a dial on the meter. (I know nothing of electricity other than it'll kill me if I keepscrewing with my enlarger).

I took two pictures when I was using the electricity meter. Here they are

the positive and negative points in the light socket

The reading I was getting

any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'll probably send it to get it repaired after the 4th of july weekend if I'm not stupidly looking over something (which I usually do)
