APUGuser is right-you would only end up throwing away money having a lab process pin hole negatives that you really don't have any control over. A little patience and you will be able to learn LF procedures correctly with a light meter and a working shutter.

I love it! Finally some pinhole haters. I can't believe that they make 8x10 pinhole cameras. Why would you waste expensive film on that? If I want crappy photos then I'll buy a Holga.

I trust you will cut the OP some slack if he plays around with some paper negatives while he waits for his lens.

I EXPECT BETTER THAN PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Pinhole in my experience is something to do in the high or middle school photo lab to teach depth of field and aperture. Since as I understand this thread our poster already does other photography, then why bother with pinhole. And no I will not cut slack for paper negatives either. Enough other people do poor photography, I expect greater from LMNOP!
And yes I am another of the pinhole haters.......

I EXPECT BETTER THAN PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Pinhole in my experience is something to do in the high or middle school photo lab to teach depth of field and aperture. Since as I understand this thread our poster already does other photography, then why bother with pinhole. And no I will not cut slack for paper negatives either. Enough other people do poor photography, I expect greater from LMNOP!

If you actually follow the posts, this is not a fight over pinhole photography or paper negatives. LMNOP has no processing facilities at present, so he cannot develop film or paper negatives; his current plan is to send anything he exposes to a lab to be developed, printed, and/or scanned. Pinhole photography (and I have seen very nice pinhole images, I have no prejudice against them) or paper negatives (same comment) are fun experiments when you can do your own processing and printing, but quite expensive for someone who has to have everything lab processed. We are simply suggesting that LMNOP save his money until his CLA'd lens reappears.

Seriously, I don't care if someone shoots pinhole, pager negatives, or a Holga. To each their own. I was just surprised to see others feel as I do about pinhole photography. Yes, I have seen pinhole and Holga photos that I liked but way too few of them.

WHOA WHOA WHOA Fellas! I can't stand pinhole photography! Worry not, I have my RZ67 and GW690ii to keep me busy, in fact I'm scanning some 6x9 negatives as we speak. I love how this debate has broken out, and as much as I like the creative suggestion, I won't waste my time or money with pinhole or paper negatives, and as Palewin points out, I do not yet have processing at home. Since I'm sending the lens out for CLA - I shot two more delta negs last night, and dropped my 4 test shots off for develop this morning. During the downtime I can examine the results, clean up the case and holders, etc.

There were tons of people posting far more offensive things than my tame responses but I think my tame response to a jab from a protected member and in a different thread was the real reason. Something about pinhole images - it never spoke to me, I've never even experimented with it. I love sharp, defined, and meaningful pictures. Pinhole work is just like photon-soup. Its a cool science project though!

I started the damn thread and no moderator said a word to me about it. Another fellow started raising Cain about it in a new thread but the thread was closed before I even got to defend myself. Of course plenty of others did defend me because I never said or even thought what the fellow said I was implying. Such is life today in the world of political correctness where you judge people on what you think and not what they are.

I started a post about Annie Liebovitz shooting Bruce Jenner for the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. I felt it was a low point in her career shooting the Kadashian crowd which Bruce Jenner is a member or was a member. Anyway, someone took it as the thread being anti transgender. He had a couple of supporters but most seemed to understand where I and others were coming from. The thread continued for at least 5 pages without any moderator having a problem with it. Someone complained and the thread was closed. One of the complainers started their own thread complaining about my thread. There was an argument on there and their thread was closed. After that my original thread was eliminated because even being closed it was the cause of continued problems.

Much ado about nothing.
