Another anecdote about Bruce Davidson is from a time he came to Athens for an exhibition curated by the Hellenic American Union.

One evening, he was invited out to a local neighbourhood where there was live music. As always, he had his camera with him.

At some point, the singer came onstage holding a Greek bouzouki that traditional instrument and his presence was so striking that Bruce immediately jumped up from the table to photograph him.

That’s when everyone realised that even at the age of eighty, even in the middle of dinner, he still had those wild photographer’s reflexes: instant, instinctive,
unstoppable.
