I am having an issue with my etrs where the shutter in my lens will remain open intermittently. It happens with 2 50mm lenses i own. I don't know how to determine whether both lenses are bad or if its a bad body.

I know these problems are fairly common but haven't been able to resolve mine. Any help is appreciated.

I have changed the battery and the problem persists however without battery the shutter seems to work fine (1/500 sec)

Does it happen on all shutter speeds or does it happen on 1/500th only?

I had a similar issue with 2 lenses for my SQAi, where they were slow or sticking on 1/500th. This speed is the "default" speed that doesn't rely on any of the electronics to get them right.

In the end, the lenses needed a CLA. Depending on where you live, the prices could vary to get this done. The alternative (& in the end probably cheaper) is to buy another couple of second hand lenses. I went with the CLA, because in the end I hopefully have some gear that will give me good life.

It sounds like it needs a CLA. www.keh.com does repairs and CLAs.

It happens at all speeds, the shutter fires and remains open. The problem does not happen without the battery and yes the camera defaults to 1/500 without a battery.

Its happening on 2 of my 50mm lenses which makes me doubt the camera body itself.

Have you tried firing the shutter with the lens off the camera (I assume that these are like the SQ lenses)?
