My goal is the purchase an GS-1 soon. Subject matter will require polarizer and ND filter use. Will go square if necessary but am considering screw on filters. Does Bronica have its own thread style or are they universally similar to 35mm patterns? This consideration hasn't been previously necessary. Thanks for your responses.

I can only speak for the SQ lenses which I have, namely the 50/80/150 S. They're all a 67mm filter thread (the PS versions are the same with the exception of the 50mm IIRC) but it's a standard thread pitch if that's what you're asking, any 67mm filter will fit. I have a couple of larger Nikon lenses with their 72mm filter thread so I actually ended up getting a 67->72mm step up ring so I could use the same filters on both systems.

Bronicas use standard threads, same as 35mm SLRs. I use the same filters on my Bronica and my Nikons. Most of the lenses for the ETRS cameras (MC, EII, PE) are 62mm; most of the lenses for the SQ cameras (S, PS) are 67mm and most of the lenses for the GS-1 camera (PG) are 72mm. There are exceptions though; particularly some of the wide lenses take larger filters, but still standard threads. By the way, your thread title asked about the PE lenses too, but you state you are interested in a GS-1. Note that the PE lenses are for the ETRS series cameras (645 format), not the GS-1. The GS-1 only uses PG lenses.

Here's a link to a system brochure with all the PG lens specs.

One note, the PG 200mm lens has a nonstandard pitch, and finding filters for it is difficult. The others I have work fine with standard pitch filters.

I just tried a standard 82mm UV filter on my 200mm f4.5 PG lens for the Bronica GS1. The filter screws on via several turns and seems to seat down ok. Admittedly my PG 200mm dates from the mid 1980s and later production may be different. The 82mm filter size is a nuisance since I've tried to standardise on 77mm filters for my Mamiya RB67, the Bronnie GS1, and a range of view camera lenses. Trying a 77mm filter on the PG 200mm via a step-down adapter should cause vignetting. But as hard as I look I can't see vignetting at any aperture or focussing distance. Even a 77mm UV + 77mm Polariser doesn't seem to vignette. I wonder why Zenzaburo Yoshino chose a 82mm filter size for this lens. Film tests follow.

Thanks for the answers, everyone. Thought that might be the case but would rather be certain. Knew I could get proper answers here.

I've been using standard 82mm filters on mine, never noticed any that did not fit.

I'm with you on the PE and PG lenses. I threw that in because I currently have an ETRSi. Have to admit I'm just enticed by the extra negative area of the 6x7.

Tony and Maris, and itsdoable, thanks for the heads up on the 200mm. I'm likely going w/the 200, 150 and 65 PG lenses. Now I need to check out the sizes for the Canon 250 and 500 close up filters. Options are a good thing.

OK, it's not the 200mm but the 50mm that uses an unusual thread pitch (0.75mm). Sorry about that.

0.75mm pitch is the standard for filter threads up to 82mm diameter.
