Bronica ETRS Prism

Hello I wonder if anybody can help. I have an AE11 prism for my Bronica ETRS but when it is mounted, I just see a red triangle on the left of the viewfinder and when the shutter is half pressed the information on the front just flashes once but too fast to read. I have tested the battery and it is registering full though I plan to replace it in the next couple of days just in case. Can anybody advise? Has anybody else experienced this behaviour?

The red triangle on the left means over-exposure. Set set AE-dial to A mode and confirm that the AE-dial release button has retracted completely.
Now press the shutter release half-way and the shutter speed for your selected aperture should be displayed at the bottom of the focusing screen area.

Thanks for that, I have done as you said and verified the AE release has properly retracted but still the same. Red triangle with all the detail on the bottom just flashing once so quickly that it can't be read. I Thought that it might be the battery but the lights in the viewfinder are so bright I am beginning to doubt it. Will try a new battery anyway.

I had issues with my ETRSi / AEIII due battery problems (though the battery indicator was acting normal). Good luck, Mikel !

Might be a dumb question but is the asa dial set at a low speed?

Unless you plan on using it in auto mode , try setting the dial to M and depress the AE button on the front of the prism .
This should eliminate all but the prism from the circuitry( excluding battery power ). And as above verify the ASA setting
and see if you get a proper reading, it should stay illuminated as long as you depress the AE button. Peter

Hello, I have tried that and all permutations but have the same thing happen each time. Other than it being a battery problem (I'll try replacing the battery today) I am lost.

I had several problems with my ETRSi kit ...
In one case the ETRSi was only firing with 1/500sec - I replaced the battery (though the battery check light was ok) and everything was fine.

Other issues were caused by dirty contacts (lens/camera and -as well- film back/camera). After cleaning the contacts, the kit works like it should (cross fingers ...).

I have the AEII prism, which thankfully behaves normally on my ETRSi. Macfred and others have given you some good tips to follow, but it sounds to me that your AEII is wonky.
