Kentmere aka. Harmon has decided to not make Brodmide graded stock any longer. What to do? Is there an alternative? I tried Adox MCC variable contrast stock but for 35mm negatives going up to a 20x24 inch print, just not satisfactory to me. The Bromide paper developed in Amidol yields a full (cool) toned print with good contrast and still with a full black to white. Anything out there, or? Any ideas you have will be appreciated.
Thank you,'
Bob

Good question, since Slavich (Unibrom) is no longer being distributed in the US. Fomabrom is neutral.

I have tried Fomabrom a few years back when it was available but not in the 20x24 inch size. I am old enough to have used Agfa 'Brovira' paper of the 60's - 70's era and that was cool toned and very contrasty, ah - the good old days, bring it back.....Thanks

The KENTMERE Bromide papers are indeed no longer made, but stock remains in resellers

I'm in the same boat you are! No real cold tone papers out there anymore since Kentmere Bromide was not manufactured anymore, and the US distribution of Slavich stopped. And certainly nothing compares to Brovira.

My only recommendation is to try Kentmere Fineprint VC. Its blacks are rich, and tone neutral to slightly cool. You might also try Ilford MGIV and subsequently tone it to obtain better blacks, but it's a far cry from Brovira. All these warm tone papers exist, but no great cold toned ones for those pure and deep blacks. Sad.
