Broken 26-1k Glass

I wanted to start doing some Van Dyke Brown printing so I got the Nuarc 26-1k out of storage and it seems the glass over the vacuum pad was damaged by some unknown force. What would be the appropriate glass for replacement? After that I checked the unit over to see if there were any other issues and found some dry rot around the area where the vacuum pad attaches to the vacuum hose. Its kinf of a circular area on the underside of the pad. Is there some sort of compound I could put on this to seal it up? It is not all the way through but I don't want it to get any worse? Last question, I think I remember someone saying the fuses only come from Nuarc, is this correct or is there some other source? Thanks

Hi Brian,

Not sure what to do about the vacum pad and the fuse but the glass should not be that difficult to replace.
My 26-1KS has a replacement glass. As long as you stay with the same thickness any local glass shop should make you a replacement no problem.

I broke the glass on mine and had a local glass shop replace it with 1/4" glass. Seems to have worked just fine...

I was able to get fuses from local electronics shop, I think. They might have had to order them, but proabably cheaper than from Nuarc...

The glass on mine was scratched, so I took it off (easy) and took it down to a glass shop. They made me a replacement while I waited, and I think it cost all of twenty bucks.

Regarding the rubber.. there is a product called liquid electrical tape that comes in a can with a brush on the lid. I think I got mine at a big box home improvement store. It is made to stick to rubber/plastic/etc and would most likely work very well in this instance. If you can find a spot to test it first, that would be the most prudent.

Thank you all for the replies, I'm glad to hear it's an easy fix for the glass. I'm also happy to hear the fuses can be found locally, I think Nuarc might charge a little bit more.

Just make sure you don't by glass that has UV Blocker in it.
