Around Brisbane itself go to the Kangaroo Point cliffs for a good view over the city. Have a look both at the top and bottom for different viewpoints. There are also a couple of viewpoints near the Story Bridge for a slightly different view. The Riverside Walk will give you a range of viewpoints as well. It would be worth a walk along the river from the Goodwill Bridge into the city to see some of the older Buildings in town. Check out the old Customs House and the Polo Club, as well as the old Parliament house and Quuensland Club building. If you are interested in architecture go for a walk from the old Parliament House along George St towards the Casino. The Terraces on George St are interesing.
In terms of landscapes head out of the city. Either up to the Sunshine Coast for Maleny, Montville, (Glasshouse Mtns, Kondalilla Falls) and maybe up to the Noosa National Park (varied coastal terrain). A big day but a good one. If you head south check out O'Reilly's in Lamington National Park and perhaps Natural Arch, through to Northern NSW. Going west a good trip is to go out towards Boonah, then up to Killarney then head towards Clifton and then back through Gatton and then Brisbane. Best done over a few days, but up to Killarney is good. For an alternative once you get to Killarney head into NSW and Woodenbong, then Rathdowney, Beaudesert and Brisbane again.
