I don't know if many people are interested in the basics of electronics.

It's not easy to understand, it's abstract, you have to do calculations and great effects are rare.

The microcontroller is certainly more attractive, you can program it and use it to build great circuits without discret components - if you know how to program.

And not everyone wants to work with a soldering iron.

I know only a few people who are involved in this.
