Dear photographers,

My tiny pocket computer mixed again all of us. Everybody should have a got message from me with a pair of addresses till the end of the day. The first block contains your own address as given to me. Please, make certain that your own address is correct. PM me as soon as possible if a correction is needed to YOUR address.
Please don't mind the numbers, I need them while "mixing" us.

The second block contains the address of your partner: You have to send your print(s) to there. Please wait a few days before sending anything to allow time for corrections. Make sure you mark your box with your name and

on it.

If you are unable to complete your assignment, it is understandable - life often gets in a way of our hobbies. However, it would be very helpful if you let me know so that I could change the assignment to somebody else.

If something is or seems to be wrong, please PM me.
Our timeline: Please print and send your offering till end of November2025. This means, you have 2 months for sending it.

If you received something: Please write a few words here. Besides this, I ask you to show what you got, we are all interested in it. A smartphone shot is sufficient.

How to avoid taxes / VAT / other problems

If a sending goes outside the U.S. (or more correct: outside your country) it should be a letter, and not a parcel or similar.

Everything you simply put in the letterbox should be a letter. Anything you give at the office may induce taxes. Everything with a custom declaration will induce taxes.

Please keep in mind what "counts" as a letter in your country. In the U.S. it needs to be flexible. In Germany, it may be stiff.

Addendum April 2024: It seems that you have to give a customs declaration sending from U.S. and Canada, even if it weights more than 50 gms – even if it looks like a letter:
https://www.usps.com/international/customs-forms.htm says
You do not need a customs form if you're sending First-Class Mail International® that weighs under 15.994 oz

There is a postal worker strike in Canada at the moment and it may last a while. Not that I'm ready to send my print, but it also impacts receiving.

Australia Post:

Canada
29 September 2025: Due to national union strike action commenced by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers on 25 September 2025 (Canada Eastern Time), Canada Post has advised all countries to temporarily stop sending items to Canada.

As a result, Australia Post services to and from Canada are temporarily suspended as of Monday, 29 September 2025.

International items that were sent to Canada before Monday, 29 September 2025 and that have already arrived in Canada will be held securely by Canada Post until postal services resume. However, tracking information from Canada Post may not be available at this time.

International items bound for Canada and lodged with Australia Post on or before Monday, 29 September 2025 and that are still within the Australia Post network will be returned and eligible for postage refund.

I imagine every country's postal service is going to adopt the same policy. So, no one should send anything to Canada until the situation is resolved.

Regarding the Canada Post strike situation. Service resumes tomorrow (today is Thanksgiving holiday), but that service is going to be periodically interrupted by rotating strikes. That should not impact letters getting through other than delay them a bit.

The postman brought today a large flat package. Inside, a print from Scott McGieson.
It is a photo of the Puget Sound, with the Seattle skyline in the distance. It was taken with a LF 4x5" camera, and enlarged on Fomabrom 112 (semi-matt IIRC) paper. And it is nicely matted as you can see in the iPhone snap below.
I quite like it. The restrained contrast conveys (as far as I can judge) the mood of overcast weather (Pacific Northwest!). It must be dawn or dusk because some building lights are apparent. Btw, my wife (also my artistic director 😉) also likes it.
Thank you Scott!

The print on temporary display. A classic camera is included for scale.

I received two nice prints from bernard_L,. Two leaf photos from the Alps. Some broad leaves among the pines, and a silhouette of a small tree with some leaves. Very nicely printed. And yes, I do like the contrast of light and shadow! Thanks Bernard! It's from the image is covering the name.

[moderator note - image moved to where it belongs, and Bernard's name revealed. That was an interesting wrinkle!]
