Bolex Macro-Yvar 100mm for H8 RX

Bolex made a few of the 100mm Macro-Yvar lenses for the H8 RX camera. They are somewhat hard to find. I was able to get one recently.

The lens exhibited common traits; very stiff focus and aperture. Also, there was some haze on the elements and the lens needed to have infinity set with an autocollimator.

Disassembly is similar to disassembly of the 150mm Macro-Yvar that was previously repaired.

I got a good deal on what appeared to be an un-molested Kern Macro-Yvar 150mm super telephoto with the correct mount for my 8mm Bolex. The rings on the front of the lens appear to have never been touched and the lens elements are clear. However, at the other end of the lens I found scratches...

Some points on re-assembly. Green circle shows the little ball and spring that are for the f-stop detent.
Blue circle is the notch for the screw that holds the anti-rotation spline assembly in plase and keeps it from spinning when mounting the lens.
Red circle shows what appears to be a missing screw. However, there is a screw on the other side, and this hole is covered with a dab of paint. This lens had not been disassembled before, so I think it is OK with just the single screw.

The aperture ring has been cleaned of all the thick, wax-like grease. Slide it over the little ball and spring.

Next, the depth of field scale slides on. There is a screw hole to align it (yellow circle).

This rear element, being so close to all the grease, was a pain to clean. I had to take the lens element out multiple times. Even thoush those threads all look clean, just a tad of grease was drawn on the lens element every time I tried to wipe it clean.

This whole assembly was frozen with old grease. After cleaning and applying new grease, make sure the little ball is in the slot (yellow circle).

These splines allow one to re-assemble the lens so the index marks for focus and aperture are on top. You can see the hole for the screw that holds it in place. That screw locks in the slot with the blue circle on post #2.

In this picture the part has not yet been cleaned.

The helicoid is cleaned just like the 150mm Yvar previously mentioned.

On the autocollimator to set infinity focus. I use film in the gate and focus on the film surface.
