Hello-
For those of you that currently shoot with a Bolex H8, how do you like it? I am considering looking into buying one but I wanted to hear from people that have used it. I have read some good things online. I currently have a couple of small 8mm cameras but they have extremely small viewfinders. I wanted to upgrade. Thanks.

i don't currently shoot with an H8 or H16,
but i DID for years and loved them both!
the viewer isn't THAT small ...
have fun!

I currently shoot with a Keystone K-8. This should be a big jump.

Even though this camera is so small I have got amazing results out of it!

Just glanced at the K8....

seems to be a neat camera! I can't comment on the finder, though even the finders on my Canons are smallish. They seem easy enough to use, though.

The separate vf on my Canon Eight has parallax correction and built in masks for six focal lengths, though no diopter correction. Evevn with my glasses on, it's easy to see, through. The Eight also has a focussing option of using the non-filming lens on the turret to determine focus distance, then transfer that setting to the taking lens...nice at wide aperatures.

My Canon Reflex Eight has a diopter adjustment and a split image screen, which is very handy!

Not trying to steer you, but my Canons seem very heavy, well built and reliable. They also go for a song on the auction site. The Reflex Eight is very nice with a built in meter and other conveniences and was had for less than $20. There's an active listing for one currently, I believe.

It is a neat camera and I will always continue to use it. It is nice and compact. The only thing I don't like about it is its EXTREMELY small viewfinder. I have never come across any viewfinder on any camera this small! :D

Thank you for the Canon reccomendation! I just looked at some and they look great and they are inexpensive. I will keep them in mind!

I have an H8 with the f0.9 lens, a round bottom H8 Reflex with 3 primes and a flat-bottomed H8 Reflex with the EE zoom. I love all 3!
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

You must be very broke now :D
