Started running slow and had some difficulty pulling some 100f rolls of Foma through the mechanism. It has been a while since I worked on this one. Time to open it up and see what is going on.

Remove this 6mm nut from inside. Removing the nut allows the turret stabilizer to be removed.

To remove the front. Make sure the film claws are out of the way. Set the shutter wide open and like this in the picture.

Lift up a little on the back (to free the variable shutter lever from its pin) and pull forward.

Loosen the screws for the handle (the ends sometimes get in the way).

Remove the five screws. Don't remove the ones with the "x."
Press in the film cutter to allow the innar mechanism to come out. You may have to turn it upside down and tap it on the table.

This is the governor. It is likely gummed up, causing slow and erratic speeds.

Some old goop around here.

This was cleaned and re-assembled with just a little moly grease.

One of the drive wheels was too high, causing loading problems.

The forward drive claw was not aligned with the center of the sprocket hole, so it was bent upward slightly.

Various rotating shafts were oiled, and gears lubed with grease. Some sliding components also got grease.

After packaging it back together I'm very impressed, it is my smoothest running Bolex.

Using an adapter made by SK Grimes, I was able to fit some wide angle adapters to the 5.5mm lens. Even though 5.5mm seems like it would be a wide lens, on regular 8mm format the angle of view of the 5.5mm lens is similar to a normal lens on any other camera.
