I've been busy, but I think I've managed to capture something new worth submitting.

I'm off work tomorrow, so I'll be in the darkroom most of the day...hoping to have a print in the mail this week.

Last Saturday I received a very interesting Van Dyke print from Cedric. Thank you!
Deep shadows from cafe chairs and a bike contrast with the chairs' white top, altogether making it special, like an ornament.
Mine two prints have just been sent to Northern America.

Igor you are most welcome and pleased it is interesting to you.
I'm glad it arrived as I was beggining to fear it would never arrive as almost 2 weeks had passed and St. Petersberg is not the other side of the planet.

An interview canceled on short notice tomorrow gave me the unexpected chance to spend some time in the darkroom. Prints are done, need to decide which one to send tomorrow. As I have a day off, chances are good that I can send the print tomorrow.

Quick update from my side: I will print mine mid December at the earliest, most probably during the Xmas break. Is this still acceptable?
Thanks,
Etienne

I don't know if there is a recommended maximum size of print for this exchange, but I have seen comments before about too larger prints being sent / received.

I love to see and do larger prints, but personally, I can't fit much more than a 10" x 8" in the album that I bought to put all of the prints received in, which with a small exception, have all been 10" x 8" 's along with just a couple of 16" x 12" 's which can't be put in the album because of the larger size.

Also, I have found there is a much bigger chance of prints getting bent on route or being folded to put through a letter box = even if it says 'Please do no bend' on the envelope!

PS I've been trying to find a copy of the print exchange rules, without any luck. So, does anyone know where they are and can supply a link? This is not just to answer the above thought about size, but just to refresh mine (and others) memory of what they are and what we can and can not send.

PS PS... Well, I've just manged to find the rules dated 2015, so I presume they are the same as now? :

But answering my question, to quote, 'Generally, a decent 8x10 or larger is the norm. Send whatever you feel like printing to get your vision across. If your neg looks best as a 4x4 inch square print or as a 24x36 inch print, just do it and have fun.'
I usually go for 8 x10 0r 9.5 x12 inch -empty paper boxes are very useful for larger prints and it's a good way of recycling them.

Yes, of course.

Yesterday, two beautiful prints from "T G McKenna" arrived, fully matted and everything!
2017_08_068.jpg

The first, a cool/neutral tone scene entitled "Shelter island, NY" features a stark cypress and lovely textured rock wall near the water...

The second, entitled "Dying Tulips, Olympia WA" has a gorgeous sweep to the composition and a lush, warm-toned,
high key approach that really fits the subject.

Both are finely printed, a generous gift from afar, and I thank you,

-Tim

I managed to squeeze in a bit of darkroom time this morning, and among the results (currently drying) is my contribution.

Looking to have it on its way across the pond by Tuesday.

There actually was one other print, which I liked at first and considered sending along as well...but as it's drying, I'm noticing some dust marks and other deal-breakers. Nothing major, but the flaws are glaring to me.

If I have time tomorrow, I'll have another crack at it. If I can't get it right, I'll just be sending one print.
