Argh. I just realized that I mailed out my print and forgot to include the letter. So, the recipient might be a little confused. :sideways:

I am running real late. I will Sean's my 3 recipients a PM to let them know they'll get something from me in Sept when I get back from interstate travel.

I've got two great surprises this weekend. First one is from Bob (megzdad81) called "Hosta Studies". It's a nice photo of hosta leaves covered with morning dew. You did a very nice job dodging the focal point! I agree with your decision not to do selenium toning - it would make this photo way too cold. As is, it's got a perfect charcoal tone which is complemented nicely by the black mat. I think I would cut opening of the mat a bit bigger to include more of the photo. I think that the composition of the actual photo looks much better than when it gets masked by the mat. I've got a mat cutter, so I think I'll give it a try when I get a free moment. Thank you for the wonderful print!

The second surprise was from Menno (spijker). This is a large print of a door front in Quebec city. Now, saying that just makes it too trivial. First of all, whoever said that you cannot make large print from 35mm film should really see this print! Just fantastic tones with bright highlights of the sign reflection in the door. The composition is just superb. It maybe just a door, but you can spend a lot of time studying the print. First of all, there are architectural details, the store signs, there is a reflection of a church (?) from across the street in the upper window. You've got quite an eye. My guess that 99% percent of photographers would just pass this door without taking a second glance, but by skillful composition you have made it a very interesting print. Even outline of your reflection in the window adds an interesting detail to the photo! Thank you!

Oh, and last night I finally made some prints that I'm more or less happy about. I will mail them out on Monday!

And my prints are finally in the mail!

Today I have received a very gorgeous print from howardpan. It's a side view of an escalator atrium from a shopping mall in Bangkok, and the tones on this print are beautiful with how the light hits the metal sides of the escalators.

Thanks Howard!

I got another fine print this round Eugene Anikin sent me a funny snapshot. The print was fine art, toning gave a very handsome effect. Thank you very much!

My wife enjoyed it too.

Thank you Uwe for your kind comments! I'm always afraid that people might take my prints seriously. I'm glad you see the humor in it!

Black Dog should have received my print by now. I regret that I forgot to include my letter with the print, so it's just a print in an envelope, and he might not realize it was from me. I will make sure to include the letter in the next round

I, too, have received a fine print from Menno Spijker. I an most taken with the juxtaposition/repetition of the name on the shop, and there is amazing sharpness in the stonework above the door. It's been a long time since I shot 35mm B&W, so maybe i'll go back and give another shot with Delta 100.

When I get those little reflections and shadows in my photos, I just title them "Self Portrait-00x" -- I am up to about -400 now. I actually have one hanging on the wall that I had to burn like crazy to eliminate the reflection. Nice job, Menno -- nice steady hands, too!

And three prints finally in the mail to Kshaub103, spijker and megzdad81.
Shipping from The Netherlands, Europe, so it may take some time to cross the ocean.

Owls are pretty efficient, if Harry Potter is to be believed!

Three prints finally done, will mail them tomorrow morning.

Tonight I'll write about the prints I've received.

I did not forget, so the prints will probably find their way to recipients in a few days.

From anikin I've received a humorous print, which was nicely printed on a toned paper. The photograph is a good example of how completely burnt-out sky can actually be a benefit in certain situations. Here it emphasizes the horns of the two, um, vikings very nicely.
